The Fused Glass Box

Learn to make distinctive fused glass boxes in a variety of shapes and sizes. We'll start with basic rectangular boxes, then move on to more complex shapes like circles and ovals.

By the end of the course you'll have made at least four boxes using two different methods, and including one custom shape of your own design.  You'll learn to make lids for your boxes using two different approaches.  And you'll leave with boxes, lids, instructions, and firing schedules for making even more.

Glass and Stone:  Pocket Sculptures

This workshop is based on processes taught by artist Weston Lambert, and is offered with his permission and blessing.  In two busy days we'll cover the basics of combining diverse materials, with a focus on combining glass and stone to create small "pocket sculptures" that can be made quickly with basic coldworking tools and techniques.

You'll be able to bring and use your own stones or choose from the selection we'll have available.  You'll also have a range of options for the glass to include, from previously made pieces to pieces we'll craft in the class.  And best of all, you'll take home at least two pocket sculptures of your own.

Bubble Up and Drop

 Here's a unique take on the drop formed vessel.  We'll start by making bubble ups, in which glass is arranged and fired to create clear areas in a particular pattern. The resulting pieces have a series of round clear areas, spaced either in lines or randomly throughout.  Then we'll use our bubble ups to create blanks to be dropped to form a vessel.

Fusing with Recycled Glass

This workshop focuses on ways to fuse using glass found in dumpsters, taken from old windows, or purchased inexpensively at a hardware or used office supply store. Making Unique Fused Glass Jewelry

Want to make glass jewelry that stands out from the crowd?  Here's a fused glass jewelry class that focuses on designs and techniques that go beyond simply slapping a piece of clear on top of a dichroic scrap. 

We'll use both regular and dichroic glass to make basic pendants and cabochons, including more advanced techniques such as creating murrini, dichroic etching, and more.  We'll also cover basic coldworking and finishing techniques for jewelry, including hole drilling, grinding, and polishing.

Registration must be made prior to the start of all courses. A deposit of one half the course tuition must be paid at the time of registration, with the balance due thirty days prior to the beginning of the course. No space can be held without payment, and spaces will be held on a first-come, first-saved basis.

Once registered, you will receive a written confirmation. You will also be notified of tools required for the course and given any other relevant information. Please notify us if you do not hear from us by one week prior to the class.

Registration may be made by email, by fax, or by regular mail. To register by email, simply contact us by clicking on the "Contact us" link at the bottom right of the page. We'll get back to you to confirm a spot in the class and to pass on information about how to make your tuition payment or deposit. Cancellation policy: A full refund, less a $25 processing fee, will be made if you cancel more than 30 days prior to the course. If you cancel less than 30 days prior to the course, a refund (less processing fee) will be made ONLY if we are able to fill your space. On the rare occasion that we need to cancel a course, we will refund all fees paid. We will make every attempt to notify you of cancellation more than one week prior to the course.
