Combining Glass and Stone with Weston Lambert

Wednesday, June 14 to Sunday, June 18, 2017
Visiting Instructor: Weston Lambert

During this intensive workshop students will learn how to merge multiple materials using kiln-casting, laminating, and coldworking.  While our initial focus will be on combining glass and stone, the techniques learned will enable you to combine glass with virtually any object and material.

In addition to basic processes using rubber molds, plaster/silica mold making, and kilncasting, we'll also explore the use of a variety of adhesives for gluing glass to different substrates. Experience with basic glass fusing processes is essential.

Weston Lambert lives and works in New Orleans, Louisiana and is the Professor of Practice in the glass program at Tulane University. His sculptures have been included in the Glass Quarterly magazine, Sculpture magazine and have been shown both nationally and internationally at exhibits such as SOFA Chicago and the Cheongju Craft Biennale in South Korea. Lambert has also recently completed public commissions of glass, metal and stone for the cities of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Geneva, Illinois. Weston's website is at www.westonlambert.com
